The Brandon Trust Adventurers Conquer … Again!

Since the summer of 2022, UWE Prescribing Team has been working with the Brandon Trust Adventurers, a group of people with learning disabilities and autism, to co-design the prescribing curriculum. The adventurers are now an integral part of UWE Prescribing Team. They organised training sessions, online, to train up to 850 clinicians on how to carry out inclusive clinical consultations and how to communicate information, in a meaningful way, to people with learning disabilities and autism.

Rachel Robert and Lou Parfitt are coordinating the activities of the Adventurers and are happy to collaborate with universities, healthcare organisations and hospices to improve the quality of care delivered to people with learning disabilities and autism. This fantastic team has recently won the Co-production Award at the South West regional finals of the GreatBritishCare Awards. Please get in touch with the them through involve.me@brandontrust.org or follow their exciting work on LinkedIn.

The UWE Prescribing Team lead, AssociateProfessor Debbie MorenoChamorro, has led this co-production collaboration and is currently evaluating the impact of the Adventurers’ training on clinicians’ skills and practices. If you want to know more about this co-production model, get in touch with Dr. Ilhem Berrou.
